Riveting television

by Steve Thorngate

Faith-based groups and others keep pushing hard for health-insurance reform. Meanwhile, President Obama and congressional leaders are at Blair House right now staging a media circus having a serious conversation about health care.

If six hours of wonkiness alternating with talking-point posturing sounds fun to you, head to C-Span and watch it live. Ezra Klein offers a helpful viewer’s guide; for real-time commentary, I recommend both Jonathan Bernstein and Jonathan Cohn’s Twitter feeds.

For some lighter (and shorter) viewing, try Jon Stewart’s “Summit’s Eve” bit from last night. (Warning: some strong language, censored by bleeping.) More entertaining still: Rep. Anthony Weiner’s rant on the House floor. (Warning: some slightly hyperbolic truth-telling, censored by the chair.)
